2012 & 2013

‘Watermark’ is a series of photographs taken a short distance from open water, particularly around the coast in Weymouth & Portland and the lagoon of Venice. Most images document the effects of saline, maritime environments on the surfaces of man-made objects. Colour and composition are carefully considered.

The images are charged with decadence, oxidization and rot. These are details of places where mankind attempts to tame or contain nature, but where the process of re-integration has already begun, quietly and surreptitiously. The relationship between ‘natural & man-made worlds’ and ‘chaos & order’ has been a touchstone for my creative activity over many years.

A selection of photographic albums can be browsed on a separate website here, but prints must be ordered by e-mail from this website. Images are mounted on 5mm foam-board and are dispatched unframed by courier. Sizes range from A2 (59.4cm x 42cm) to A5 (21cm x 14.8cm). Please quote both the album and image title.

About Me

Welcome to my portfolio website. There are two sections: one features a small selection of my work as a visual artist, the other a selection of successful projects that I curated, directed, led or project managed within arts development and the public realm.

Identity, place and space link these two areas of work. I draw on specific physical, historical and cultural environments either to inspire and locate my own work or to commission new projects for others.

I founded the b-side festival in 2008 and was Executive Director between 2012-20. During the same time I lectured on the BA Creative Events Management course at AUB and taught Fine Art at Weymouth College.

I moved back to Italy in 2020 and now live and work permanently in Sant' Elena, Venice, Italy.

A current CV can be downloaded from the 'About Me' page on this website.
